On the Road again!

Our Summer officially started with our first trip out of town. The thing I have missed the most while I was watching other kids was not being able to head out of town whenever we want! The girls and I love to go go go! We went to visit my college roommate "Aunt Bucket". She has a pool and we had been talking about swimming at "Aunt Bucket's" but then when Kinley got stitches that was out. We had to find lots of different things to do!

I have been thinking about cutting the girls hair for a while, but was scared because the girls were flower girls. I decide to take the plunge!

Madelyn LOVED getting the full treatment...SUCH A GIRL!

Kinley was a bit concerned about it all...They had never had their hair washed at a salon

We used a lot of playing games on phones to keep them looking down.

I love their new hair cut! I think it really frames their faces, so glad I did it! They love it too. They talk about their hair cut all the time. Plus we can still rock the bow! They wouldn't be Madelyn and Kinley without bows!

Later that day!

We made suckers using jolly ranchers...so fun! You should totally do it. Yummy! (got to love Pinterest)

You unwrap your jolly ranchers and lay it on a parchment paper covered cookie sheet.

Of course you put one in your mouth while you are waiting!

Put them in the oven at 200 for about 5 mins...you really have to watch them! Once they are done you press the lollipop stick and twirl it around to make it stick.

Stitch her up!

Well it happened. We had to take a trip to Cook's ER for stitches. UGH! Kinley, bless her heart isn't Ms. Grace. She is err...clumsy to say the least. Both Chris and I commented that we were a little surprised we had made it this far without an ER visit. 

It was Father's Day so we had dinner fairly late and were just making it home when it happened. I called my parents to come get Madelyn, who might have been taking it harder that her sister was hurt than Kinley! 

Kinley was SOOO tired, she slept while her Daddy carried her in!

Happy Father's Day Dada! Hope you enjoyed your day! Chris was seconds away from going to a solo movie before all this happened! I had to keep pressure on her knee to try to stop the bleeding while he drove! It was quite the mess! 

Kinley LOVES her blanket! Thank goodness Mama remembered to grab it!

Let me tell you right now...run, don't walk and buy an iPad! Seriously, such a lifesaver in the waiting room! The IPad more than paid for itself that night!

Getting Sleepy...They had numbed it with Gel

 Let me brag on my little girl for a minute. She didn't cry AT ALL while they were stitching her up or giving her a shot. The nurses were WAY impressed and asked to video her to show all the big kids (and adults). Everyone in and out called her the girl that doesn't cry!

14 days she had to keep the stitches in! Yikes we had a beach trip planned in the middle of stitches! Let me tell you that was hard letting one 3 year swim and not the other!

Catching up.

Other than continue the streak of no blogging, I figured I would catch you all up with iPhone pictures. Lately I have been so busy so that is about all the picture taking that has been going on...ugh, I PROMISE this is getting better tomorrow! I charged my actual camera today for the first time in months. 

To start things rolling, I thought I would COMPLETELY embarrass myself...I took this picture to send to Çhris. To do 2 things. Show that literally the girls (and him for that matter...TeeHee) are giving me grey hairs and so that he would tell me to go get my hair dyed. Well I don't remember what he said but it has since been taken care of...wow! 

In the middle of our CRAZY life lately Chris and I actually got away for an early anniversary trip...Good thing cause I am pretty sure on our anniversary we didn't see each other! 6 years!

 I had a wonderful stress free Mother's Day! 

For Mother's Day, I made these cute Bird Nest Necklaces for some of the special Mom's in our lives. Thank you Pinterest!

On my birthday we spent about 2 hours at Six Flags...It was WAY too hot for much more!

 New for us this month...Kinley has become terrified of Carousels...

She always wants to get on but this is what happens. 

 I watched 4 other kids for 6 months...us working on our ABC's see I didn't give up on that...More on that later!

I was planning part of a wedding for a friend and my AMAZING friends stepped up to watch my kids. I LOVED getting this picture to brighten my day! I mean seriously HOW CUTE?!?!? I believe I will be framing it!

Taking Cover!

Two months ago we were having a storm. I was not supposed to be at home but we were home eating lunch. All of the sudden I hear sirens going off. I don't do storms very well so we were headed for the bathroom. Everyone makes fun of me because I always head to the bathroom very EARLY in a storm.

However, honestly at this point didn't think too much about it. I called my mom because she works for the city and generally knows what is going on. She was at lunch a few miles away. She wasnt sure what was going but thought she heard someone say a tornado. Ok, insert me FREAKING OUT.

 I promptly received a call from Chris who was at his new office in Dallas watching the news. He was more aware of what was going on because he was watching and said that the tornado was coming toward us. Pretty sure at some point I said I can't handle this! Power was coming off and on. I remember thinking it was so loud then eerily quiet...I calmed down and realized I had to do what I had to do I have my babies to take care of. I talked to my mom one other time and she was watching the tornado and it was heading our way...yikes!

I put Madelyn's mattress over our heads as we waited it out. We lost power completely in the middle of it all and I couldn't really make a call out on my phone. Finally when my mom got through to call she was going to come over to see what damage happened in our neighborhood. She said she had a VERY hard time even getting to our house. Lots of houses in the entrance of our neighborhood had been hit. Our house seemed to be fine. We were lucky!!!

One of the worst hit was a nursing home...way too close to our house for comfort...like walking distance. 

So sad they had to move all the elderly out. In all the damage that our area got no one was killed!

Isn't this crazy!!

Its been over two months now and there is still damage and people out of their houses. We feel blessed that our house was fine and all of our families and friends were left unharmed also. All we had to deal with was no power. The girls still talk about the "tormado" and getting in the bathtub and the mattress.  

Seeing double...again...and again...and again.

One of the wonderful blessings I have had because I have twins, is all my wonderful twin Mama friends. I am blessed by these friendships all because we had two babies! Sorry you will have to read all the sappy stuff...I am feeling sentimental! We have been SOOO lucky in the last couple of months to get to visit with some of these fine Ladies!

First off we have been lucky enough to get to spend some quality time with the Hutton's while they are here working...They were here around this time last year and we enjoyed it so much then too. We do a lot of shopping. Good thing our girls are GREAT little shoppers! Don't worry they always get something out of all that shopping we do! ;)

Love the kid stores with cartoons...Madelyn isn't wearing shoes because she was trying on EVERY pair in the store...OBSESSED with shoes that child!

This same day I got a text from my other WONDERFUL blogging twin Mama friend Kristi Brown. It said hurry call me I have good news! She told me that she and her friend were making a quick trip down to DFW the next day! Sadly I couldn't move everything in our schedule but we managed some time to hang with our Friends from Arkansas! We also got to meet up with my "soul sister" Amy, another twin mama! Every time I see Amy I instantly realize how much I love that chick! Amy, we live WAY to close not to see each other more!

After breakfast the Brown's and us headed over to the aquarium. We all had a wonderful time and will be back for sure!!!

They had such a cool tunnel tank...It was so neat! 

The floor was so cool! Kinley wouldn't walk on it at first but we finally convinced her it was ok!

They had Starfishs for the kids to touch...I think I might have thought it was cooler than they did!

Later that evening we met back up with the Huttons and Browns at our mall for dinner and bouncing!

Well if getting attention with one set of twins isn't bad enough at the mall try taking 3!!! We got quite a few comments and looks!!!

We looked over and there was one from each set sitting in the chair...so cute!!!

The kids had so much fun bouncing, we headed back the next day. We also ate at the Cheesecake Factory!

The Browns had to head home that day and we missed them as soon as we said Goodbye! The girls kept asking if we were going to see our friends! I hope it is sooner than later!

A week or so later one of our other favorite Twin families came into town to visit their family! We stole them away for a WONDERFUL afternoon of playing and visiting! I think Britni said it best...We go a long time without seeing each other than when we get together its like we have been friends forever!

I feel blessed beyond belief  because all these families are in my life! I love that something like our babies brought us together...and our blogs! I consider these women to be some of my best friends. I LOVE that my girls will never feel like they are the only ones. They will always know plenty of twins and might at this point think that is how babies come! So glad we got to see so much of our friends already this summer, can't wait to see the rest of our Twin Mamas!
