A year ago today...we were four!

Any NICU parent knows how it is to leave your baby or babies behind in the Hospital. You wait to hear anything about "going home" The 25th of February will always be special to us. It was the day we brought our two little babies home from the hospital. They weighed under 5 pounds, so itty bitty! It is almost hard to look at their little pictures, seeing how tiny and fragile they were.

The Day we brought them home!

It is AMAZING how much they change in just a year! This year has been a roller coster but we wouldn't have it any other way!! I am glad that we sleep more now though!!!

Great Great Grandma

Back in January Chris's Great Grandmother passed away. She was almost 104!! Isn't that crazy! She fell and broke her hip and due to her age they could not operate. The girls had met her once and I am so glad she got to see them. She had two sets of twin grandsons and our twins were her great great granddaugters.

Here she is with Tiny Kinley in May 2009

Love this picture!

We decided to take the trip to go to the funeral with the girls. Thanks to Renea, Steve and Becca for all their great hospitality! We got there late on Thursday night, girls asleep everything going fine until I realized I had brought everything except the bag with EVERY piece of clothing for the girls! They had jeans on and an ACU t-shirt. Not exactly funeral clothes. Luckily for some strange reason there was PJ's in the diaper bag. We got up super early headed to Target...Target pretty much let me down. Like the first time ever!!! They had nothing in 3-6 or anything smaller than 12 months for that matter. We found some oneies and a pair of pants, but that was it! We headed to meet Becca's class and all her teacher friends. We must be talked about a lot because walking through the hallway, we kept hearing "oh those are Ms. Osborn's twins" LOL! We love our Aunt Becca! I am missing the camera with the pictures from the first half of the trip so SORRY no pictures!

After the failed attempt at Target, we happened to find a Carter's outlet and all was OK!!! We had some dresses!

After the funeral, we went back to Chris's grandma's and visited for a while. Madelyn and Kinley love a house that is not baby proofed! Lots to get into!

Here is Madelyn trying to get to stuff!

Kinley with her Uncle Johnny (he is a twin). They loved him!

Madelyn with her cousin Hope. Hope was like two weeks old at my wedding.
Here are some pictures of the twins in our one outfit! Silly mama!

Go Wildcats!!

Here is what pictures really look like.

I love this picture! So cute!
After lunch on Saturday we headed back. The girls didn't do so well on the way home. Kinley would only stop screaming if she was holding my hand.

I tried to take a picture but it was hard!

We got home to a very well thought out packed bag of clothes.
Each outfit all together in a bag. A lot of good when it is in another town.

1 Year check ups!

The girls recently had their one year check-ups . My cousin Sarah decided she would go along to help, thank you soooo much, Sarah! The girls had been more fussy than normal the week before but I just put it off as teeth. Boy was I wrong.....Ear infections. Kinley had two, and Madelyn, one. Poor babies! They didn't feel good.

I always get them all dressed up for appointments. I don't know why!!! You can tell they don't feel great. Trust me this was the best we could do, picture wise!

I get them dressed up to get naked three seconds after we get there. Silly Mama!

Madelyn Playing on the floor. I know gross. It was seriously the best we could do. They were so grumpy! I washed them down afterwards.
Not a good picture but you can see Kinley's top tooth. We call it her buck tooth.

Kinley actually happy for a second.

We didn't give the girls their shots that day because they were running fevers. So we get to go back and get those and follow up on the ears. It was a SUPER long visit. I took a whole long list of questions to make sure we asked the doctor everything I needed to know.

The Details

-Girls weigh right over 16 pounds. (edit, Im an idiot. I have been telling people 16 it was 15 pounds) Not on chart but doctor seemed not concerned.
-doing like they should developmentally (for 7 week early preemies)
-can start switching to whole milk. Switching slowly.
-wants us using sippy cups and no bottles in 2 to 3 months
-isn't worried that they still use pacifiers
-watching the reflux still

After our appointment we went and got our Antibiotics. Went home and the girls took a long nap. Poor babies were worn out!

Madelyn and Kinley's drink of choice for ten days. They freaking love this stuff. Madelyn will cry if I give it to Kinley first.

Party, Part 2

Let me start off by saying that Chris and I were completely BLOWN away at the love we felt at this party! It was sooo neat to see so many people all there because they love Madelyn and Kinley. There was SEVERAL people that drove many many hours just for K & M's party. It meant more than they could ever know!

More than just a first birthday party, this was a we survived party! We survived a 33 week pregnancy than ended faster than expected, 17 days in the NICU, starting out at 3 and 4 pounds, and many many sleepless nights in the beginning! Let me say it is a reason to celebrate!!!

Our family!

Quads and Twins! We Love our quads!
(they were ALL OVERWHELMED by the huge crowd looking at them)
