Wicker Reunion 2010

One weekend my Mom’s side was having a family reunion and the girls and I headed down with Poppy to see everyone! We got there kinda of late and the girls were super ready to be out of the car. Chris had been out of town on business that whole week so the girls were probably just glad to see other people besides their mom.

So it was WAY after their bed time when we put them down to bed…or so we hoped. The girls are on a schedule and honestly they don’t always do great when they get off. Because all my family was there our room was luckily by my aunt, unlucky for them because they screamed and screamed. At home I have NO problem doing the scream it out method but at a hotel I don’t. I caved…

Photo-0462 That’s right we headed to Wal-mart at almost midnight to buy paci’s…which the girls had been off for almost three weeks at this point. My poor cousin Elayna was staying in the room with us and we made a group decision that because we didn’t want to keep everyone up we needed pacis. I know, not my best mom moment…hey, you do what you gotta do! We didn't take pacis home with us btw!

The next day we all were going to the farm where my grandmother grew up. Her name was Margaret (Kinley’s middle name is Margaret after her)

Elayna and the girls! Those straps will not hold them in!

The family!

This family had bought the farm and the old house many years ago and were nice enough to let 50+ people come and look at it all! They completely redid the inside of the old house. It was such a wonderful surprise. Especially to my Aunt who had grown up there. The house was built in the turn of the century.

They did have to tear down part of the old porch but they made this dining room table out of the wood.

When my grandmother was a teenager she worked a a soda shop in town. Since then the drug store no longer stands but the local museum saved the counter and it’s on exhibit there.

I just thought it was so neat!

Sadly ACU’s Homecoming was the same weekend as our reunion so I missed it again this year. But luckily “Aunt” Becca was driving through the town we were in and stopped by for about an hour to see me…I mean the girls! IMG_7534That night we all had dinner together and our annual auction and talent show! The girls were entertained for hours by their many cousins, which was great for mama!!! So nice to eat with both hands!

We had a wonderful time getting to know our family more this weekend! I love that my girls will know so many cousins, aunts and uncles!

The girls turned 21 months this week! So, I thought I would share our Halloween costume finally! The girls were Double Mint Gum and I LOVED the way they turned out, I had lots of help making them. A day at the Lake!

My Mom (Mimi) works at the Library and they are remodeling one of her libraries. She had a great idea to raise funds for the new remodel...instead of having a walk and the walkers raise money they had a Paddle-a-ton. The paddlers raised money and either Kayaked or canoed the paddle trail around our lake. The Library is called Lake Arlington Library and built by the lake so it made perfect sense!!! My mom of course talked Chris and my Dad (poppy) into participating. We headed down there to cheer them on! There was other stuff to do so the girls had a BLAST!

Poor Kinley got a bug bite the night before...doesn't it look horrible?!

Ok, this picture is better of her!

Madelyn riding in the wagon before it starts

Chris getting ready to head out.
Madelyn on Poppy's shoulders once they got back!
The girls are NEVER far away if Poppy is around!

They also would let kids and their parents go out on a boat for $5. We went for a few rides.

Madelyn getting ready in her life jacket

Kinley freaked out when we put the life jacket on...so Madelyn decided to go by herself!

Madelyn having a moment with Poppy

Kinley chose to wait with Sandi and watch her sister
Several people from our Church came out to support my mom...I know she REALLY appreciated it!
Chris and Brooke (we LOVE when we get to spend time with them)
Cheyanne and Vicky

They had other things to do out at the lake and we had fun looking at the fire truck.

They weren't sure when we left them on the truck for a picture.

They also had a few races...and actually Chris won! He won a pretty neat Jansport backpack and choose the pink one for the girls...isn't he a nice DADA...(I said hey, I need a new backpack for the girls and they have a cute pink one) lol!
Chris during his race!
They actually had an adventure photographer out there and he got some AMAZING shots of the girls. I am ordering some and once I get them I will put them on the blog. We had a great day out at the lake and glad we got to go and support our Mimi!

Bye Bye Paci!

Last month I decided it was time to say Bye Bye to our pacifiers...I had been told by our pedi that she didn't see a problem but wanted us to kick the habit by two...we were getting closer and closer to 2 and I knew I had to just drop it cold turkey. That is always the way we do things around here and it just works for us! But let me tell you I was dreading this one! I was going to take them away by the time they were one but you can see how well that went.

We liked Pacifiers! Towards the end they took any kind!

We decided to cut the nipples off two paci's and handed one to each girl. They are really big into saying uh oh...So we made a big deal about them being broken and needed to go into the trash. They both threw them into the trash by themselves (I think that helped) and we were done with them. That night was ROUGH, Madelyn took it particularly hard. She was the most attached for sure, I think Kinley was on her way to giving them up herself. It was hard for a few days but even still SOOO much easier than either one of us thought!

So not ready for this!

Last night we decided to put the girls on the potty before bathtime, just to see. Kinley freaked out and was scared she was going to fall in, Madelyn wasn't scared but as we were telling her to pee pee in the potty Kinley peed. Who sadly was being held by Aunt Becca (who spent the weekend with us!) Sorry about that Becca!

Anyways this afternoon, I said "Ok, who wants to pee pee in the potty". Madelyn runs to the bathroom door and stands there...I think ok...and put her on the potty. After a minute of holding her over the big potty she poops!!!! We made a huge deal about it, and now she just wants to sit on the toilet all the time. We are really going to have to get a smaller potty cause it gets pretty old holding her over the big potty. I have no idea if we are going anywhere with this and don't think I am ready for them to be out of diapers and where am I going to be able to find panties small enough!

Can't wait!

Last year my amazing friend Hannah, fellow twin mama, and one AMAZING photographer took our family photos. I fell in LOVE with them and we decided that from then on she was our photographer for family pictures. It's SOOO much easier than having to get Chris to take them...I need his help trying to keep our girls still! Anyways I am so excited to let you guys in on a secret...ok, so it's not a secret but it is really cool!

Last year we drove to Abilene to have these pictures done and while I would drive there again...She is coming to Ft. Worth!

I am just so excited and wanted to let you know about it so you could get her to take your pictures too!

She is GREAT with kids and patient! I am telling you...she is great!

Aren't my girls so little in these pictures....makes me tear up a little!

Here is all the info if you want to join in! I know we will be there!!!!

Now all I need to do is figure out what everyone is going to wear!!!!
