On the road! Off to a bad start...

So Chris had a documentary thing to shoot out of town. I decided to pack the girls up and visit some good friends that moved too far away. Chris was going to go with us and drop us off then drive to his shoot. We were trying to get off by 10 to get half way there by the time the girls ate again...HA!!! We didn't make it. We actually left at 11:30. This however was only the first thing that went wrong.
This was the scene at our house
So we headed down the road...After we had gotten off so late we abandoned the idea of eating once we got there. The girls had finally settled down so we didn't want to get them out to risk the screaming that would more than likely follow. We decided to go to a drive thru. We choose Wendy's more because that was the only thing that we saw. We had handed the lady our debit card, she is gone FOREVER and the babies start to scream!!! The lady comes back to the window and says "you are going to hate me but I broke your debit card" Ok, Chris says just trying to start moving the van so possibly the babies would go back to sleep. Let me say, first of all this debit card was less than a month old. Who breaks a debit car anyways, and still charges us for our food!!! Not wanting to prolong the visit to Wendy's we decide it's ok. I mean really the card is already broken and nothing can change that. We can just use mine... OH MY GOSH, I say as soon as we pull out of the parking out...I left my debit card sitting on our desk when I was paying bills!!! We are way to far away to turn around. So we are looking at being out of town with no cash or debit card. How fun will that be?? Luckily she broke the card and not the stripe. We were able to tape it and pull cash out for me. So we kept driving down the road trying to maintain a good attitude about it all. Well at least We TRIED!

We drive another hour and I all the sudden remember what else I forgot...MY BREAST-PUMP. I had already pretty much decided that was going to be my last week to pump. I had that week left on my rental from the hospital...Luckily I had a hand pump that I keep in my car for emergencies. OH SO MUCH FUN!!! Alright, let me back up and show you our van. I have no idea how I forgot anything.

I later found that I had packed our bedroom remote but some how forgot the breastpump!! Ok it was my first real long trip packing for four people!!!

We decided to take a break in the middle of the trip and go visit my cousin Elayna and see her new house. So my precious (usually) little girls cried most of the time we were there. Poor Elayna, not sure she was sad to see us go. Wow what a wonderful time we were having so far. I honestly was just ready to turn around and go back home. I am pretty sure there was more crying from me than the twins at this point.

We finally made it and everyone was still alive. I ended up buying a horrible pump at wal-mart which I used once and decided that my medela hand pump was MUCH better. Tried just making the girls nurse too. WOW that wasn't good. Kinley did ok but Madelyn would SCREAM. That made me feel really good let me tell ya!!!

Once we got there and were settled we had a great time!!! Celeste and I scrapbooked so much I forgot to take many pictures. Sorry!

Their church was having a VBS in the evening so the girls went to the nursery class there. I am pretty sure they were spoiled rotten and held the entire time. They had to put little name tags on so they could tell them apart. It was weird having to drop them off. Our church is so little and my Aunt teaches their class that it does not feel like leaving them really. Anyways we had a great time at Uncle Steven,Aunt Celeste and Lily's house, can't wait to do it again. I think next time we will try to take Daddy with us though we missed him lots.

Oh yeah on the ride home we had TWO poopy diaper explosions!!! Oh the fun!

Lordy! Quite an experience, huh! It's amazing how much stuff you have to pack for two tiny human beings! Guess it's a bad time to ask if you're planning on having any more kids!?!

How funny! The crying does make you go a little crazy, so it is very easy to forget stuff. Isn't it funny that we forget the some of the most important things! I have forgotten bottle before, let me say only ONCE though, that should never happen again!!!! Glad you had a good visit, but I missed your e-mails.

I love hearing travel stories with babies. We are taking a trip with ours at the end of the month and I am not sure what to expect.

Bless you! I take traveling for granted now....we have done it twice a week for the last 7 months.....4 hours one way. It is a lot but once you get some practice it gets better. Remember though...no two trips are the same, anticipate anything and everything, be prepared for what could come...even flying pigs, and just remember to laugh at the end of the day! Hugs girl...you are doing a great job!!!!
