I wanted to write down about today before I forgot all the painful/gross/insane/funny/disgusting things that occurred in the Tarrant Household.
Yes, we covered our cushions in trash bags (trust me it was a good idea)
We decided that it was time to potty train the girls and quite frankly I felt I had been putting in off. It is a little sad…I mean I assume Chris and I will have more but who knows and this is kinda the last baby thing, other than cribs and they might be six before we do that! Anyways I decided it was just time…After reading the 3 day potty training book, that many many other moms of multiples recommended, and after a pep talk from Suz. I went to bed pumped up and excited to start this new adventure. HA, boy I had NO IDEA what to expect. Plus I was doing all this without Chris. Which was poor planning on my part, looking back at it. I wanted to do it with out him I thought it would be easier. When people say this is hard they are right, it was hard. When people say it was easy and they had no problem, I don’t believe them now. Ha, well maybe I believe you but not today.
So the book says to get ready for the day before you child or children are awake and that you can start the process ready.
Chris and I spent a long time the night before setting up for the big day.
We had a bunch of snacks and juice handy so I didn’t have to leave the room.
I had a TON of prizes for our successes…ha!
We had LOTS of books and movies about the potty!
Lots of new movies to keep the girls entertained.
I set my alarm at 7:15 planning to shower, dress and do a few things for the morning…but the girls had other ideas they decided to wake up at 7:20 and they usually don’t wake up until 8-8:30. No big, right…I’m ready to do this!?! ha.
I started out feeding the girls and talking about how we were going to be big girls now and etc, etc. We started by pulling off the diapers and saying bye bye diapers.

Our last pictures of babies in diapers….
As soon as the girls were by their potties they wanted to try…ok! Kinley pees in the potty within 5 mins of starting…YAY, I think! ha…
Madelyn didn’t really do anything at first no success no accidents just nothing. I said “tell Mama when you need to pee pee, ok?” every 30 secs. Or least felt like that often. Just about the time I thought, huh this isn’t too bad it got bad, no something out of a scary movie bad. It was like everytime I turned around someone was peeing! they would even just take their panties off and pee on the floor.
Text from me to Chris (and various friends): Kinley just peed like a boy standing in the middle of the living room. You seriously had to see it to believe it but there she was standing like she was a fountain. It went down hill from there, pee was everywhere. Pretty sure Madelyn even slipped on pee at one point. I couldn’t clean it up fast enough. We went through an entire case of Lysol wipes and two loads of laundry. I remember looking at the clock and it said 9:58 AM…are you kidding me!
We watched movies, we colored, we blew bubbles and then did it all over again. All while saying “tell mommy when you have to pee pee already, ok?” It was rough to say the VERY least.
Throughout the rest of the day we had 2 other successes (1 more from Kinley and 1 from Madelyn) and COUNTLESS accidents. We ate lunch and more of the same.
We had planned for Chris to be here while the girls napped so I could run out and get my hair cut. Best part of the planning of the potty training. I SOOOO needed the time out of the house.
When I got home I even had time to check email and just get ready for round 2…
Kinley started having to carry this towel everywhere and made me wrap it around her all the time.
Once the girls woke up, Madelyn had pooped and peed in her pull-up…yes don’t judge we aren’t doing naptime and night training right now. We cleaned it up explained that we put poop and pee in the potty and put the panties back on. We then had no accidents or successes. It was strange, Kinley wasn’t really into drinking after nap but Madelyn was drinking and ton and wasn’t doing anything. My cousin Elayna comes over to do laundry and asked if she could come today, I warned her. She was AMAZING and actually stuck around and helped and brought ice cream!
Madelyn didn’t pee after nap, her stomach was rock hard so we knew she had to pee. I walked out of the room for two seconds and she started peeing and Elayna threw her on the potty! She started screaming, Madelyn hates being wet!!! I think seconds after that, both girls were screaming and peeing. Pee everywhere, Elayna stepped on a juice box at the same time so there was juice everywhere too. It was intense and hard emotionally and physically challenging for all involved!
Madelyn got a little silly at one point.
They of course needed a bath and we were more than ready for bedtime!
Day two coming up!
