We started out the fourth at our city parade! We have one of the largest (at some point I know it was the largest) 4th parade in the Nation. We always went when I was a kid with my grandparents, and this was the first year we decided to brave the heat with the girls.
The girls eating breakfast waiting for the parade to start.
My parents, my aunts and cousins came to watch the parade with us! We had a blast even though it was EARLY and HOT! Madelyn waved her flag at everyone passing for like the first ten minutes of the parade too, she was totally getting into it!
Watching the parade with Mimi and Madison (cousin)
Pictures of some of the parade…
The Cowboys float was passing out tattoos….Madelyn HATED it! Kinley however liked it and it took us at least a week to scrub that thing off.
Madelyn not enjoying the star!

After the parade we headed out to my Uncle’s ranch for our annual 4th of July lunch with family and friends.
Kinley LOVES to play in the dirt and spent quite a while doing so.
Madelyn on the horse…she looks so tiny up there! Madelyn LOVES horses
She also got to ride the pony! Kinley wasn’t so sure of it.
We decided that we hadn’t done enough for the day (ha) and headed over to a very good family friend’s house for dinner and swimming. They also started a tradition with their grandsons that they build cardboard boats and have a “regatta”. It was SUPER cute and such a sweet tradition to have for their grandchildren. Nana (the grandmother, who my girls also call Nana) goes all out, with judging and prizes!
Their boats!
The judges…oh she also makes everyone wear a hat. I mean whats a good regatta without hats!
And they are off!It was a good race complete with crashes and a sunken boat!
The girls were VERY into watching the race
Matthew even took the girls for a ride…wearing their life jackets of course!
Poppy decided to go for a ride…it was a very strong cardboard boat.
Some of the Captains in the race…Issac! Christopher.
We finished off the evening watching fireworks with the Steece bunch! It was a great day!

I love the regatta idea! What fun! I will have to tell my mother-in-law about that. She'll be all over it. Especially since most of her grandkids are Amiya's age or older. They would have so much fun!
