our scary day

Sunday night Madelyn started running a pretty high fever...103. I gave her Tylenol and keep watching her through the night. It never got any better and she started pulling on her ears...I figured I guess we are going to the pedi...we only made it one week from when we were there last for our 18 month check up.

They found pus in both ears and her throat was a little red but she has had a cough. The doc said that usually with ear infections the fever doesn't go that high either but she was going on antibiotics either way. So we were on our way. Madelyn has never had a fever over 100 so she was not used to this and not feeling well at all. Mimi went with us and THANK GOODNESS. On our way home we stopped at Target to get the prescription. We had to wait and because we had a CRAZY morning we hadn't eaten lunch yet. We decided to eat at the Pizza hut in Target. Well Madelyn had other ideas. She started shaking (like she was cold) and then threw up EVERYWHERE.

We finally made it home and after medicine and changing of clothes (for everyone) I laid the babies down. Kinley slept for about two hours and Madelyn was still sleeping...I checked and she was a little warm (not hot just warm) but it was too early to give medicine again. After a few more times of checking on her. Chris got home early because of a eye doctor appointment. He went in to get her and she was just laying there awake but not crying. As soon as he picked her up he knew she was BURNING UP. I took her temp under her arm (supposed to add a degree) once it got to 104.9 which was really 105.9 I was on the phone with the pedi. She was red all over, flushed.

She told us to give her a shower in luke warm water and give cold liquids. After that and a few calls and texts from Nurse Suz! I decided to keep her home...I was just about to head to the ER. After a new dose of Motrin, showers and sitting in front of a fan. We had gotten it down to about 102. She would not drink or eat so she got a Popsicle and Ice cream...tough being sick!

Sissy wouldn't be left out so she got a Popsicle too!

Around Midnight or so her fever was gone and she is acting a little better...puny but better! Now we are just hoping K doesn't get it! Lots of FUN posts coming up just as soon as we get back to normal!

Ugh, my Madilyn had a fever like that with Strep a few weeks ago. Just laying limp while we rocked. Thankfully she responded to a rotation of Tylenol/Motrin, but fevers are freakin' scary for mamas!!!
